Coincidence, Luck and Synchronicity… or Not?

246bev_headMerriam-Webster describes these words as follows:

  • Coincidence: The occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident but seem to have some connection
  • Luck: To come upon something desirable by chance.
  • Synchronicity: To occur or cause to occur at the same instant.

Many would group these words together. I say, “Balderdash!”

To repeat an anonymous quote, “Coincidence is God’s way of making Itself known.” Oprah Winfrey taught me that luck is simply preparation meeting opportunity. Synchronicity is nothing more than your awareness of the experience of God’s Will.

Let me tell you a story about coincidence, luck and synchronicity that happened a few years ago, perhaps in 2004. I happened to be at my church, Unity of Livonia, when I glimpsed inside a doorway that was partly opened. What I saw was odd enough to cause me to stop. On the floor amidst papers and a laptop was my friend, Tochi. So naturally, I got down on my hands and knees and crawled into the room. I got face-to-face with her and asked, “Can I help you?” I can’t describe the look on her face adequately, except to say that it appeared as if she had just been slapped!

As it happened, Tochi had very recently put out a prayerful call to Spirit for help. She was working on her book, “Reasons for Praise and Thanks!” and needed someone who understood the essence of what she was writing to review her work. She was thrilled to have the help, and I was just as thrilled to be of help to her.

This is a fine example of the universe accommodating God’s Will (or was that Tochi’s will?). Cosmic happenings are like a lovely dance. In the universe amazing things regroup and line up to ensure people come together and events occur.

Consider this: When you are feeling unhappy, chances are you are trying to make your will to be God’s Will. On the flip side, when you are feeling happy, you are experiencing your intentions in line with God’s Will for you and you are manifesting that which serves your highest good.

“A Course In Miracles” tell us, “All real pleasure comes from doing God’s Will.”
I would encourage you to use your emotions as a barometer that will happily guide you to your highest good. After all, God only wants for you to be happy, always.
